Cobblelock driveway paving is also often referred to as block paving driveways and this can cause confusion for some customers. These terms are interchangeable and refer to the same product.

NATURAL STONE PAVING

Natural Stone Paving – A very long lasting and maintenance free option for your driveway. These driveways rank at the higher end of the pricing scale due to the extra labour involved in their installation. However, the benefits to the consumer far outweigh the higher initial investment. Natural stone is hard wearing and is installed on a wet cement base with wet cement joints to ensure durability and ease of maintenance. CONCRETE DRIVEWAY

Concrete – A very hard wearing material; a maintenance free and long lasting driveway option. Once a concrete paving job is done it’s done for life. The cost of paving a driveway with concrete will be between €60 and €90 per square metre.

Imprinted Concrete  – Imprinted Concrete driveways, also known as printed concrete or patterned concrete has gained popularity in the last few years. Many homeowners are taking up cobblelock as they have found it difficult to maintain or it may have been poorly installed initially. This time around they are choosing imprinted concrete for its ease of maintenance and long lifespan.

For it’s plentiful benefits the cost is not overly expensive at between €75 and €110 per square metre for a fully installed new printed concrete driveway from start to finish. The imprinted concrete sealer will need to be applied every 3-5 years but other than that these driveways are virtually maintenance free.

CONCLUSION

As you can see a new driveway paving project could cost you anywhere from €50 to €150 per square metre, depending on which option you choose.

The price charged will depend on what we find when we view the job. The existing ground material, rubbish to be taken away, the existing levels, drainage required, access to the area for materials and machinery, paving choice and if you require a design in the paving area will all affect the price charged.

Always bear in mind the quality and durability of the material when making the decision of which material to choose.  If you want something maintenance free and to last decades while still being attractive it will obviously cost more than a quick tidy up. Always seek advice from a trustworthy  paving contractor prior to having a driveway installed as this is the best way to ensure the best use of your budget and the most suitable driveway for your needs.
