COST OF PAVING A DRIVEWAY : PAVING OPTIONS:
If you choose to entrust your project to us as your paving contractor, below is a list of some of the Driveway Paving options that we can offer you:
COBBLELOCK PAVING – BLOCK PAVING
Cobblelock Paving – A very popular and affordable driveway paving option. Block paving comes in a wide range of colours, sizes and designs. We use Kilsaran as our chosen cobblelock supplier as they are renowned for their high quality block paving products. For your peace of mind, they also offer a 25 year guarantee on all of their cobblelock products.
The cost of a cobblelock or block paving driveway will depend on a number of factors such as size, existing ground, access, waste removal etc but as a rough guide our prices range from €60 to €90 per square metre for standard cobblelock. Cobblelock driveway paving is also often referred to as block paving driveways and this can cause confusion for some customers. These terms are interchangeable and refer to the same product.
Granite finish cobblelock costs €10 extra per square metre. This includes everything from start to finish. We supply the cobblelock, prepare the area, complete the job and remove any rubbish and debris upon completion.
NATURAL STONE PAVING
Natural Stone Paving – A very long lasting and maintenance free option for your driveway. These driveways rank at the higher end of the pricing scale due to the extra labour involved in their installation. However, the benefits to the consumer far outweigh the higher initial investment. Natural stone is hard wearing and is installed on a wet cement base with wet cement joints to ensure durability and ease of maintenance. The cost of paving a driveway with natural stone depends on the type of stone you require. Below we give a breakdown of the different types and costs. They range from €85-€120 per square metre.
Granite Paving – A very hard wearing product that will look as good as new for years to come. Granite is low maintenance making it attractive to many of our customers that are simply too busy for regular driveway care.
Granite is the most durable and low maintenance option of all natural stone paving. It will cost you between €100 and €120 per square metre to pave your granite driveway.
Sandstone Paving – Sandstone paving is very popular due to its huge variety of colours to choose from. Each sandstone slab has unique hues and tones giving this stone a natural, earthy look. A sandstone driveway will set you back between €95 and €115 per square metre.
Limestone Paving – Very hard wearing paving option. Available in black, yellow and grey. A limestone driveway will cost you between €95 and €115 per square metre, the same as sandstone.
Quartz driveway – A top quality stone; for a little extra cost you can have add a classy look to your driveway. A beautiful and durable stone. Quartz is another very high quality driveway option and will cost between €120 and €140 per square metre.
Porcelain Driveway: Porcelain is rapidly becoming one of the leaders in the paving material market. It has major popularity for patios but is also growing in popularity for driveways. Its becoming very popular among property owners in Dublin, who are looking for a modern, clean look that will last. When installed carefully and correctly porcelain can be used on driveways and is very strong, durable and easy to maintain. The cost of paving a driveway with porcelain slabs will be between €110 and €150 per square metre.
Gravel driveways – A low budget option for your driveway. Comes in a variety of sizes and colours to suit your home. A gravel driveway is a great way to create an attractive driveway on a lower budget. Depending on the existing ground and what type of pebble you choose, most options will cost between €50 and €75 per square metre.
Tarmac Driveways– a clean, low maintenance option for your driveway. A tarmac driveway will give a clean modern look to your entrance and is a relatively low maintenance driveway solution. Popular for large areas. This job will set you back between €50 and €80 per square metre. The cost increased if you included details such as borders, steps, aprons etc.
Concrete – A very hard wearing material; a maintenance free and long lasting driveway option. Once a concrete paving job is done it’s done for life. The cost of paving a driveway with concrete will be between €60 and €90 per square metre.
Imprinted Concrete – Imprinted Concrete driveways, also known as printed concrete or patterned concrete has gained popularity in the last few years. Many homeowners are taking up cobblelock as they have found it difficult to maintain or it may have been poorly installed initially. This time around they are choosing imprinted concrete for its ease of maintenance and long lifespan.
For it’s plentiful benefits the cost is not overly expensive at between €75 and €110 per square metre for a fully installed new printed concrete driveway from start to finish. The imprinted concrete sealer will need to be applied every 3-5 years but other than that these driveways are virtually maintenance free.
As you can see a new driveway paving project could cost you anywhere from €50 to €150 per square metre, depending on which option you choose.
The price charged will depend on what we find when we view the job. The existing ground material, rubbish to be taken away, the existing levels, drainage required, access to the area for materials and machinery, paving choice and if you require a design in the paving area will all affect the price charged.
Always bear in mind the quality and durability of the material when making the decision of which material to choose. If you want something maintenance free and to last decades while still being attractive it will obviously cost more than a quick tidy up. Always seek advice from a trustworthy paving contractor prior to having a driveway installed as this is the best way to ensure the best use of your budget and the most suitable driveway for your needs.
All prices will be quoted before we start work and the price quoted is the price you pay. We dont charge any hidden extras. If you make any changes or alterations, any additional charges will be discussed ahead of carrying out the work to ensure no misunderstanding on completion of the work.
